What Tools are in Your Toolbox?
6/3/2009

As summer appears to have arrived full force in Tacoma this week, I have been contemplating my expanded tool boxes. My exercise tool box is full of variety with my new bike and my new kayak. My favorite running shoes and the dog's leash offer a couple of other options for getting off my rear and getting outside to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. The weeds are always calling if just being outside is enough. When Tacoma's normal weather returns, I can always swim at the health club. Variety is important. A single option is not truly an option. If I have only a screwdriver in my toolbox, cutting a piece of wood will be next to impossible.

What does any of this have to do with Spiral Dragonfly Dream Coaching®? My personal empowerment toolbox has also expanded. I am a certified Dream Coach® and Dream Coach Group Leader®. I am also a trained Purpose Coach and Reiki practitioner. Not every path to growth and empowerment works for everyone so I have expanded the choices available to those wishing to work with me.

Why these tools? The common thread among these tools is surrender. In the Dream Coach® process, either individually or as a group, it is necessary to surrender old ways of being in the world; to recognize and embrace new opportunities to manifest your dream. When I empower clients on their purpose journey, they must be willing to accept other ways of knowing than we normally use in today's hectic society. The process involves getting still and listening; surrendering to the wisdom that surrounds us. Reiki requires surrender not only by the client but by me to the energy fields that flow through me and align within the client giving him/her whatever is needed at this point in their journey.

Surrender is probably one of the hardest lessons to learn. We want to believe that we have control over our lives; that we can set a goal and achieve it. When those we care about are in pain, we want to believe that there is something we can "do" to make it better. But sometimes, probably most times, the only thing we can "do" is surrender and accept that pain happens. Bad things happen to good people for reasons unknown to us. The greatest gift we can give or receive is to sit with those we love and listen, cry, laugh, and surrender.

If you are noticing opportunities in your life to practice surrender, I would love to hear from you. Please email me at mary@spiraldragonfly.com
